Japan Communications Inc. (JCI, TSE Prime:9424) is pleased to announce that "Mebuku Pay," the digital local currency provided by its consolidated subsidiary, my FinTech Inc., since December 20 last year in Maebashi City, Gunma Prefecture, now supports cash charging at Seven Bank ATMs nationwide as of yesterday. This development is part of the JCI's focus on FPoS as a key driver for mid-to-long-term growth.
"Mebuku Pay" offers a secure, convenient QR code payment system based on Mebuku ID and features two types of wallets. The "Mebuku Pay Wallet" handles regular cash transactions, while the "Municipal Grant Wallet" automatically receives childbirth and child-rearing support grants (worth 52,500 yen) from Maebashi City. This system is made possible through data linkage system with Maebashi City's data management, facilitated by Mebuku Ground Inc.'s data linkage platform.
The "Mebuku Pay Wallet" is a prepaid payment method that allows deposits from bank accounts or credit cards. With the addition of cash charging at Seven Bank ATMs, even those without a Mebuku Pay-compatible bank account or credit card can now use the service. Seven Bank ATMs, numbering 27,370 units nationwide as of the end of February 2024, are installed in various locations, including Seven-Eleven stores.
