JCI contributes to WELLNET's Secure Payment Service ― Providing FPoS Library

Japan Communications Inc. (Stock code: 9424, hereinafter referred to as "JCI") is pleased to announce that on July 23, 2025, the FPoS service provided by JCI to WELLNET CORPORATION (Head office: Sapporo, Hokkaido, President and Representative Director: Kazuhiro Miyazawa, Stock code: 2428, hereinafter referred to as "WELLNET") entered the practical application stage through WELLNET providing functions for end users.

While face-to-face credit card payments have become more secure due to the mandatory touch or PIN entry system, the risk of fraud in non-face-to-face payments remains a major and increasingly serious issue.

Under these circumstances, WELLNET, a leading company in payment services, has adopted and started using JCI's FPoS in order to ensure safety in payments for a wide range of purposes, including payments to local governments (resident taxes, fixed asset taxes, national health insurance, nursing care insurance premiums, water bills, etc.), electricity and gas bills, and e-commerce sites including Amazon.

As explained in the disclosure document "JCI Introduced FPoS Library into WELLNET's Smartphone Payment App - Implementing a Uniquely Reliable Identity Verification and Secure Login Without Using an Authentication Database - " dated May 30, 2025, this is WELLNET's smartphone payment app "Shiharai-Hisho" (Japanese for "Payment Secretary") incorporated with JCI's FPoS Library.

"Shiharai-Hisho" is a smartphone payment service with a rechargeable electronic money function provided by WELLNET, and can be used for a wide range of payments, including payments to 1,122 local government organizations, 10 electricity companies, 29 gas companies, 71 bus and railway companies, and 27 e-commerce sites including Amazon.
Additionally, since the service supports top-ups from bank accounts and convenience stores, customers without credit cards can use "Shiharai-Hisho". And then we are considering adding this to our services in the future.

In the second phase of our collaboration with WELLNET, we will promote support for the introduction of this e-money through WELLNET's platform, which enables partner companies to insource payment systems using their own branded e-money.

WELLNET and JCI will continue to work together to promote the social implementation of e-money, that is safe, secure, easy and convenient to use.
