JCI and paperlogic Begin Business Partnership
- Enabling Party-Based Electronic Contracts Using Accredited Digital Certificates on smartphones -

Japan Communications Inc. (hereinafter referred to as "JCI") is pleased to announce that JCI has begun business partnership with paperlogic Co., Ltd. (Head office: Minato-ku, Tokyo, Representative Director and CEO: Koichi Yokoyama, hereinafter referred to as "paperlogic"), which provides solutions for the digitization of legally required corporate documents and electronic contracts for companies, to commercialize a party-based electronic contract service using a digital certificate issued by accredited certification business under the Digital Signature Act (hereinafter referred to as "accredited digital certificate under the Digital Signature Act").

This business partnership aims to realize the party-type electronic contract service using an accredited digital certificate under the Digital Signature Act with safe, inexpensive, and simple procedures by embedding FPoS Library, a security platform provided by my FinTech Inc. (hereinafter referred to as "my FinTech"), which is a subsidiary of JCI that operates a digital certification authority in accredited certification business under the Digital Signature Act (hereinafter referred to as "accredited digital certification authority"), into "paperlogic", the business document digitization service provided by paperlogic.

Electronic contract services, which digitally sign PDF files such as contract documents, can be broadly divided into two types: "party-based" and "witness-based". In the "party-based" type, each contracting party signs electronically using their own digital certificate, which directly guarantees their identity and intent to enter into the contract. In contrast, the "witness-based" type is a system in which the electronic contract service provider signs electronically using its own digital certificate.

Although an accredited digital certificate under the Digital Signature Act has been inspected and accredited under this law to ensure high security, it requires an IC card or similar technology, which is expensive and requires complicated procedures to issue. Therefore, the currently widely used electronic contract services are "witness-based", which do not require the issuance of digital certificates of the contracting parties, or "party-based", which use digital certificates that are not in accredited certification business under the Digital Signature Act.

"paperlogic", a business document digitization service provided by paperlogic, is a solution that can digitize all legally required retention documents, such as contracts, invoices, delivery notes, and meeting minutes, in compliance with all legal requirements, and supports both "witness-based" and "party-based" electronic signatures, allowing customers to select according to their needs.

JCI’s FPoS library is a module that verifies customer’s identity by My Number Card JPKI (the Public Personal Authentication Service) and issues accredited digital certificates under the Digital Signature Act in real time, securely and at low cost within a secure area of the smartphone.

This business partnership will enable the provision of accredited digital certificates under the Digital Signature Act in a low-cost and easy-to-use format, and aims to realize a party-based electronic contract service that simultaneously achieves the three elements of "high security," "convenience," and "low cost," which have previously been difficult to achieve together.

The two companies will work together to accelerate the commercialization of it in "paperlogic".
