Japan Communications Inc. (JCI, TSE Prime:9424) is excited to announce the launch of the "b-mobile VISITOR eSIM for Japan," a prepaid eSIM product dedicated to data communication, designed specifically for visitors and temporary returnees to Japan, starting April 2nd. This innovative plan, which seems like it should have existed before, is now making its debut.
Following the COVID-19 pandemic, there has been a shift in values resulting in longer stays and more diverse needs among international visitors to Japan. As many travelers are choosing individual travel (Foreign Independent Tour, FIT) over package tours, most of the existing data communication plans for visitors to Japan have been limited to fixed periods and data allowances, such as 7, 15, or 30 days.
To address this situation, JCI has developed a dedicated eSIM plan that meets the needs of each individual visitor and temporary returnee.
With this plan, users can freely select their stay period (start and end dates) and the required data amount, just like reserving a hotel or inn. The usage period can be set from 1 to 30 days in daily increments, and the data amount can be set from 1GB to 100GB in 1GB increments. Additionally, the plan allows for extensions of the usage period and additions to the data amount.
While it was difficult to meet individual needs with physical SIM cards, eSIMs, which are completed online, make it possible to provide a service tailored to each individual.
Next year, the World Expo 2025 will be held in Osaka, Kansai, Japan, and an even greater number of visitors are expected to come to Japan. JCI will continue to plan and develop products and services that allow customers from all over the world to fully enjoy Japan's advanced communication environment.
