JCI Delivers SIMs Outside Japan: “Taiwan VISITOR SIM” in Taiwan for Visitors to Japan

TOKYO, Japan – October 17, 2013 – Japan Communications Inc. (JCI) today announced the release of “Taiwan VISITOR SIM”. This new data SIM card product is specifically designed for visitors from Taiwan for their use in Japan. The Taiwan VISITOR SIM, to be available in Taiwan in November, 2013, is made possible through collaborations with KADOKAWA TAIWAN, Corp., and KADOKAWA ASCII Research Laboratories, Inc. In addition to enabling access to the Internet while traveling in Japan, this data SIM product provides access to useful travel safety information such as emergency contacts in Japan, as well as other travel information about Japan through select articles from “JAPAN WALKER”, a travel magazine about Japan published by KADOKAWA TAIWAN.  The KADOKAWA Group will distribute and sell the product in Taiwan.

The Taiwan VISITOR SIM is good for 5 days, and is tailored to fit with duration of a typical Japan visit from Taiwan. The service duration can be extended in per-day increment through online purchases.  Two million travelers visit Japan from Taiwan, and the number is expected to rise to 2.4 million next year. This highly optimized service feature, as well as customers receiving the SIM package in Taiwan before departing for Japan, makes the Taiwan VISITOR SIM a must-have SIM card product for travelers from Taiwan to Japan.

The b-mobile “VISITOR SIM” is a 14-day SIM card product for foreign travelers to Japan. The VISITOR SIM has been available exclusively at “b-Market”, JCI’s direct online web store. The VISITOR SIM has become more convenient since November, 2012, as customers can receive the SIM card package at Japan Post Offices located at major airports throughout Japan upon their arrival.  JCI continues to strive for delivering products and services that are useful and convenient for foreign visitors to Japan from countries around the world.

Founded on May 24, 1996, JCI has shown how innovative mobile service businesses can be.
