Japan Communications Inc and VAIO Corporation announce collaboration - in preparation for launching a smartphone

VAIO Corporation(hereafter referred to as VAIO Corp., Head office: Azumino-shi, Nagano; President: Takayuki Sekitori) and Japan Communications Inc (hereafter referred to as JCI; Head office: Minato-ku, Tokyo; President: Frank Seiji Sanda) announced a joint cooperation to further strengthen the Mobile Solutions Platform(MSP) initiative, a service concept combining user solution and mobile technology.

In 1996, JCI was established to invent a new business model in the mobile communication industry, giving shape to the next generation internet communication made possible by mobile networks.  In the course of pioneering the MVNO and SIM markets with its innovation and creativity, JCI continues to take on the challenges of becoming a MSP.  This cooperation with VAIO Corp. is a huge step forward in making this happens.

On July 1st. in 2014, VAIO Corporation was established, succeeding the VAIO brand PC business from Sony Corporation.  VAIO Corp., as a new company, is seeking joint ventures with various industries to engage in providing innovative products and solutions with unconventional ideas.

The two companies, through combining their unmatched ability to question conventional business values, are preparing to launch a VAIO brand smartphone for the Japanese market as early as next month, as a fruition of the cooperate business.  Details will be announced when the product release date is set.
